Capacity Building and Development

The need to localize was agreed upon by governments and aid agencies as part of the Grand Bargain at the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016 and promoted as the “New Way of Working” by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in 2017. One of the most important aspects of localization is capacity building. Capacity building strengthens the ability of the humanitarian sector to provide aid effectively. Ektimisi’s capacity-building approach is to (i) help organizations to adjust well to the latest developments in a given sector or area, (ii) improve the quality of response, (iii) test new approaches or adopt new ways of working, (iv) scale-up innovation, and (v) strengthen cooperation and collective response to crises. Based on this approach, our services regarding capacity building are the following:

Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA), proposal development, technical training on various topics such as project management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), on-job capacity building, finance, logistics, media, visibility, communication, problem-solving and leadership.
